Appointments in Romagna, the best events of June

This summer Romagna is once again one of the great stages in Italy. Concerts, music, art and folklore create an explosive mix of unmissable events in the name of that living with taste that the Romagnoli have always taught us.

There will be Pearl Jam and Cesare Cremonini. But also the smooth and the tortellini. Electronic music will be listened to in breathtaking and unknown locations, to discover the most hidden Romagna; and we will meet in Ferrara to dance the best of contemporary Italian pop.

In June, the Romagna summer events promise a month of fun, under the banner of international music and local folklore.

Here are the main events.

Autodromo di Imola
25 June - 2 July

Imola, in summer, is synonymous with great music. Concerts-events that attract tens of thousands of people from all over Italy thanks also to the large spaces made available by the racetrack. This year, in late June and early July, two heavyweights: Pearl Jam (June 25) and Cesare Cremonini (July 2). For Cremonini, Imola will be the last date of the tour that will start from Milan, while for Eddie Vedder and associates - after the cancellation of their live dates in the USA - Imola will represent one of the great stops of their tour in Europe.

Festival della Romagna
16 - 19 June 2022

The festival that presents the overwhelming passion of Romagna in all its cultural forms returns to Cervia. Art, music, performance, traditions, typical cuisine, workshops, crafts, dance evenings: the creativity of Romagna in an explosive concentration of fun, taste and a pinch of healthy madness. The Romagna Festival is the perfect opportunity to visit and experience the ancient "City of Salt" of Cervia, the old "Borgo di Pescatori" and the wide expanses of the "Garden City" of Milano Marittima, built on the edge of a centuries-old Pine forest.

3 June– 8 August 2022

Elementi returns with a third edition ready to show stages framed by exceptional landscapes. The review is a contemporary music project conceived by the MU and MAGMA associations with the aim of rediscovering an immersive performative dimension within the highly emotional natural scenery that characterizes the Romagna area. After the success of the first two editions, which made the public discover the pier, the pine forest and the salt pan of Cervia and the river park of Cannuzzo, this summer the review proposes a calendar of ten events around the whole of Romagna: Faenza, Cervia, Cesenatico, Lugo, Fusignano, Cotignola, Bagnacavallo, Bagnara di Romagna, Massa Lombarda. All the places of Elementi become the stage for shows and performances that blend music and landscape in an exceptional artistic dimension.

Ferrara Summer Festival
23 June- 31 July

«The moment brings us back to dreaming of the past, living the present and imagining the future». This is the claim of the festival that at the end of June will animate the city of the Este, transforming it into the capital of summer, Italian and international music. Among the most anticipated: Solomun (25 June), Venditti & De Gregori (7 July), Tommaso Paradiso (13 July), Marracash (20 July). But the Ferrara festival also brings important names from the world of entertainment and culture to the stage: Fiorello (June 23), Pintus (June 26), Piero Angela (July 12).

Niballo, Palio di Faenza
5 - 26 June

For Faenza, June marks the return of the Niballo with its colorful flags, the historical procession, the local events in the name of sociability and good food. The Niballo is the most important folkloristic re-enactment of the city, a moment of aggregative celebration for all citizens, capable of thrilling tourists and fans. A full calendar of events that opens on the afternoon of June 5th and ends on the 26th with the most awaited race: the Niballo, the medieval joust in which the 5 districts of the city compete. A competition of speed, precision and tenacity that truly recalls the ancient challenges in single combat, with the contenders who compete on horseback and spear in hand to hit the target placed on the outstretched arm of the Niballo, the great figure with the features of a warrior representing the old Saracen enemy, placed in the center of the competition field. Over the years, dozens of parallel events and events have developed around the competition that animate the center of Faenza throughout the month and offer opportunities for entertainment, culture and food and wine.
